JASPER COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Jasper County Historical Society in Ridgeland, South Carolina, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the written, oral, and physical legacy of this county. We do this by maintaining physical collections and promoting the study, appreciation, and interpretation of local and regional history.

The Society was incorporated in 1989 by General Jacob E. Smart (USAF Ret.)

Gen. Smart was credited with planning daring daytime bombing raids against German positions in Poland during WW2 which resulted in accelerating the end of hostilities.
